Bruin Sig Summer Newsletter
Worthy Bros!
I hope this Bruin Sig Summer Newsletter finds you and your family well. Many of you have been asking some great questions (“Why are you trying to rebuild the house?” etc). We’ve added a new FAQ section at www.bruinsig.org.
As we double our efforts to rebuild 459 Gayley and rebuild our UCLA Sigma Chi community, here are some brief updates:
- Construction updates: In the first two quarters of 2024, led by our worthy Don Harrier, we completed an updated survey of the property and house, that located property lines, setbacks, slopes (contours), and utilities. We also investigated the house for asbestos and lead that will require special handling during the demolition; and we conducted a soils investigation for the new bedroom wing and new basement’s structural foundation requirements. Our architect, Mark Krittenbrink, has met with the City of LA’s department of Development Services to review the project’s zoning regulations. All this information will provide us sufficient detail to jump quickly into the permit drawings.
- Last call for contributions to the UCLA Sigma Chi History book! If you have photos, stories, context for your time at DH, you have until Aug 1st to submit them. Link here to contribute. Link here to contribute.
- Football season is upon us. If you’re interested in attending UCLA home game tailgates, please email your name, phone number, the game and number of people in your group to rob@bruinsig.org.
- Please join the Sigma Chi at UCLA Alumni Facebook page It’s not what this hip kids are using these days, but if you want to keep up to date with Delta Eta alumni and see some wonderful photos, please join the group at this link HERE.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any related Delta Eta updates or inquiries.
